Monday's Artist

WHO WE ARE: We are a fine arts enrichment program created by a homeschool family seeking to afford professional classes in a reasonable time frame for every one of our children. There was not enough time in a day, nor money in the bank to schedule private lessons in even one of the arts. Our goal is to provide for the fine arts needs of whole families. Additionally it spun off into a home based program that allows parents to drop children off without the liability of church based programs as well as a staffed nursery for younger siblings. Albert Einstein once noted that, “Imagination is more important that knowledge”. Monday’s Artists seeks to awaken the imagination and weave it through with academic education in a manner that offers classroom participation and friendships. We chose to have our programs instructor-led rather than parent-led due to the breadth and depth which we wish to cover. However, these professional instructors are, as often as possible, parents. Materials are presented with a great deal of experience, enthusiasm and encouragement while children are met at the level at which they enter Monday’s Artists. Exploring the fine arts and guiding our children through these fun and creative areas of education is a gift….one that holds a special niche and attainable success for each child. We pray that this time together will enrich your family’s fine arts, academics, character and friendships. Particularly that you, as mothers and primary educators, will be encouraged and affirmed through accomplishments and friendships gained. And that you will be refreshed, strengthened and renewed for this journey on the road less traveled while your children expand their knowledge and abilities.

Monday's Artists is a homeschool fine arts enrichment program for children ages 5 to 18. Classes are taught by professional instructors while programs are directed by homeschooling moms/dads. Monday's Artists was created by our family when seeking to afford professional classes in a reasonable time frame for every one of our children fell short of our hopes.   There was not enough time in a day, nor money in the bank to schedule private lessons in even one of the arts so my sweet husband gave me leave to solve our dilemma and the concept of Monday’s Artists formed.  Our goal is to provide for the fine arts needs of . busy homeschooling families, both large families and small families. Additionally it spun off fun programs for the moms such as exercise, Bible study, meal planning, lesson planning, etc and a nursery for our littlest one.    Albert Einstein once noted that, “Imagination is more important that knowledge”.   Monday’s Artists seeks to awaken that imagination and weave it through with academics in a manner that offers fun classroom participation, lasting academic progress and increased artistic abilities.

In following God’s leading we grew from one program to two programs in a matter of three weeks! Professionally taught, single-location fine arts became an affordable reality.  Exploring the fine arts and guiding our children through this fun and creative area of education is a gift….one that holds a special niche and attainable success for all children.

As more calls came in from interested families, locally and nationally, we reformatted our plan and now offer assistance in creating, guiding and managing programs wherever they are needed.  Our desire is to help to create this opportunity wherever it is needed.    In re-creating our structure to spread outward and forward, we add depth, originality and quality to our own program.  With each year we incorporate more of what our families need. This years tenable benefits include the addition of foreign languages. Last years changes included an all-age, Chorus and Drama Club (drama is no longer available) as well as this beautiful website (thanks to dmoom@moonconsulting.com).

Our study periods span four years:  Romantic/Classical Arts,  Arts Around the World ,  Sacred Arts, and American Arts.    Each year will offer its own Curriculum Guide which you may purchase separately to accompany your children’s classes.   The Curriculum Guides have been created as a tool to assist and inform you so that you maintain lead-teacher/guide status and can lead educated discussions with your children regarding the ‘grammar’ of each subject-   A tool that will maintain your revered position of Lead Teacher of your children.     It will offer you ideas and practice suggestions for further study at home.  We hope it encourages your family to embrace the fine arts without having the weight of teaching from scratch.

We pray that you will join us as a Monday's Artists and find the richness of fine arts accompanied by academics and friendships.  As well as be refreshed, strengthened and renewed on this road less traveled.

Serving you, I am,

Kate
